The “Corridor 8” is a major road and railway transport corridor passing through Albania, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria, linking the port of Varna in Bulgaria, on the Black Sea, with the port of Durrës on the Adriatic. This corridor is also connected to Italy, an EU member state. It includes seaports, airports, approximately 960 km of land roads, and over 1270 km of railway tracks.

The national road Elbasan – Qafë Thanë is an integral part of this corridor, as well as the Tirana-Elbasan-Librazhd-Pogradec-Korçë corridor, which connects key areas for tourism as well as enhancing the connection between Albania and Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and other countries.
